Maine Rescue Dogs Have Their Day at Boothbay Railway Village

The Boothbay Railway Village is hosting their Second Annual Rescue Day at The Railway Village on Saturday June 6. This dog-friendly Maine event is all about fundraising, adoptions, family fun and dog activities. Key supporting local businesses include, The Animal House - a destination health-focused pet supply store in Damariscotta and Westbrook and The Coastal Dog - an open-concept boarding service in Edgecombe.

Five Maine dog rescues and animal shelters will be participating in this year 's fundraising and adoption event including: Lincoln County Animal Shelter, Underhound Railroad, Almost Home Rescue of New England, Catahoula Rescue of New England and New England Border Collie Rescue. Rescue groups will host fundraising activities in their booths and there will be opportunities throughout the day for prospective family meet and greets with dogs and puppies looking for their forever homes.

Dancing Paws will strut their stuff with Rally-Free and Freestyle dog demonstrations. A Coastal Dog doggie daycare sampler, complete with a paddle pool and an off-leash play area, will allow social dogs to splash around and ruff-it-up.

Throughout the day, Maine authors who support animal rescue will be featured inside Spruce Point Chapel with readings from their recent titles and their books available for sale. Maine-made pet accessories, treats and apparel will be featured and available for purchase.

The Boothbay Railroad Village is the perfect dog-friendly pit-stop to get a taste for our rich New England heritage, in a picturesque rural village. On a regular day, visitors get to experience a steam engine train ride, stroll around the historic village set on thirty park-like acres and drool over 60 antique vehicles in the car museum.
